I assume they are not relying on TheTVDB - they seem to use their own data (and have done this for a very long time already - see EPGuides.com).
As you can see with the MacGyver example; their data seems more solid.
So I'd add TVMaze as a data source, so users can use one or the other or both.

problem with maze is a lot of upcoming series are not there. about 10 days or so before i created this thread i decide to revisit maze and other sites like it and add my shows just in case the issue with the tvdb got worst. cause to be honest the tvbd has had plenty of time to rectify the issues with series., and i was not impressed at all with lack of upcoming new shows. now was wondering mot as a feature for rnms but just in general may be someway to use rss to aggregate the show episodes. i've never use rss myself so know very little about it.

RSS is most certainly an interesting tool to use to update show info. I'll have to look into what kind of data is being provided though.
Taking a quick look, it looks like the RSS feed is no longer in use ( https://www.thetvdb.com/rss ).
TVMaze has an RSS feed, but only for premium members it seems.

Coming back to TVMaze; both TVMaze and TheTVDB have their issues, and frankly I understand why they are sometimes incomplete or lagging in updates.
Having said that, in some of the earlier versions of RMTV, TheMaze (in the shape of scraping EPGuides.com), was included as well.
When searching, the user had a choice; use TheTVDB, use EPGuides, or use both.
If I get to implement TVMaze, then I'd use the same approach, so this way the chance to find a new and/or complete show is better.

all together i keep track of about a 110 shows for 3 people including myself. when i last visited tvmaze about 20 shows weren't available. after your post yesterday i gave them another look, and now all but 3 are available. those 3 aren't even in production yet, so in about a 10 fay period they addressed my concern. now that said i noticed yesterday that macgyver  for this week is actually on the calendar.

TVMaze seems OK when it comes to MacGver Ep16 - so adding TVMaze as a source sounds like a good idea.
Even if it's just to have 2 resources. It will take me a while to implement this though.

cool always nice to have a secondary source when possible. i have to wonder if tvmaze uses their own data base or if they found some way to compensate for the data not being pushed out correct from the tvdb.

As far as I recall, TVMaze has its own data and is not using TheTVDB. I recall EPGuides (using the same data) being around for a very very long time already. That's why I used EPGuides in one of the older version of RMTV (using scraping, since there was no API at the time).

I'll have to do some comparison on the data provided by both and see if I can somehow store the data of TVMaze in the current database.

2.0.4 does not include TVMaze support ... but I hope it has some good improvements.

o.k. i messed up something and can figure out how to correct it. as you can see from the screenshot i'm missing the S for season and the E for episode. i know it's not huge, but i do prefer a S01E01 format. so help.

Your rename string doesn't seem to have an "S" or "E" in it. You'd need "%N S%SZE%EZ %T".  Easy to overlook.

p.s. it's one of the predefined formats I think (the button next to the format string).
