Hi,

I have the problem with beta version 4.0.27 that everytime I restart my Macbook Air M1 with Golden Gate 27 (but it happend also with Sequioa) all my saved network shares are gone. When I start ConnectMeNow after rebooting I got a box, that asks, that it seems that I start CMN for the first time and that it would like to make a sample share. When I say no, I have an empty ShareDefinitions window and I have to load a backup config to get my old config back. Seems like a bug to me.

Regards

Marc-Antón

Hi Marc-Antón,

I'm sorry to hear this, that is super annoying!
I'm running Golden Gate as well without this issue (I use CMN daily as well 😉).

Do you have any additional information?
Like where the preferences is being stored?
Could it be that this location is not right away available when macOS starts?

Eg. I store my settings in iCloud

/Users/<username>/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/ConnectMeNow/com.Tweaking4All.ConnectMeNow4.ini

I'll do some reboots to see if I can reproduce the issue.

I tried 2 reboots, and did not encounter the loss of settings.
Did notice though that Golden Gate appears to be waiting quite some time before it would start applications that live in the menubar (like CMN).

So my first guess would be that your settings are in a location that is not yet available when CMN starts.
But I could be wrong of course - there is still a annoying bug where one rare occasions the settings cannot be found. I encountered it once myself, and at least one other user reported, but I have been unable to reproduce so debugging is quite a challenge.

Can you see if this file exists?

/Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.Tweaking4All.ConnectMeNow4.ini

The file exists and I now restarted my Mac several times and the problem has gone.%-)
I don't know what the problem was, sorry for reporting this.

@grossmaggul Don't feel sorry for reporting! 😊

Like I said, there is a tiny little bug somewhere that on rare occasions triggers this, I had it happen once as well.
I'm eager to find why or how this happens so I can look into it and fix it.
But not being able to reproduce this makes it hard to find the bug.

So any reports are most welcome 😊

Thank you 😊

I'll leave this topic open (unsolved) for now until I can find the bug.
If I found something that may solve this, I'll post it here as well.
