As a non-default Linux user, I always get confused about what needs to be installed to get FPCUpDeluxe to run.
In this case specifically the GTK3 version.
So for those looking for this:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y build-essential make binutils gdb git subversion zip unzip libx11-dev libgtk-3-dev libcairo2-dev libpango1.0-dev libgdk-pixbuf2.0-dev libatk1.0-dev
