Thought I'd check in to see how you are doing during this. Also I wanted to let you know after using RMTV 2.1 for awhile now I've really enjoying it over the previous version. Currently I'm getting show info only from the MovieDB and TVMaze. That allowed for getting rid of some issues that the TVDB still has with certain shows. As for renaming with only the two checked I've only run into one show that would not name correctly, and that was only due to how the files were named. I adjusted the names of the files and RMTV found the show without issue. I simply love not having to use the TVDB cause they do have more than their share of issues. So again fantastic job with the new version.Ā

Thanks 😊Ā

I'm super glad to hear that. TVDB is indeed a mess, but they are the most complete (when it works).
Wider selection of shows, more complete info (mostly), more clipart, and more languages.
But their unstable environment just sucks.

Anyhoo - thank you very much for posting this. I very much appreciate it!

Stay healthy! 👍Ā

Hey checking in again to let you know that all is still good with the current beta, see if there are any new betas I might want to test.Ā  Have a good one and stay safe and healthy.

Well, not much has changed, but I did find a bug where "additional" files do not get renamed (like NFO and SRT files and such).
I hope to resolve that one today.

I am also getting very little feedback from users (in total the beta has been downloaded more than 1500 times), so I assume it works for them (or they are lazy - that can be as well of course 😋 ).

Works fineĀ  for how I do things. Typically when I download a torrent I uncheck everything except for the video file. If I need subs I merge them with the media file before renaming, so I wouldn't of noticed if the renaming of srt's and nfo's is broken.Ā

Makes perfect sense - glad to hear it works well for you.

I did find where things go wrong, but it seems an issue with the tools that come with my developers environment.
Oh well, I'll figure it out somehow 😉Ā

Crap, the migration seems to be an issue. 😩Ā
Only fix:

1) Keep using the old one and wait until I have a fix for that.
2) Drop the old database and restart the newer version.

I'm recompiling my compiler and IDE at the moment, so I cannot right away look into that.

The database structure comes with quite a few changes.

For a list of changes in 2.1.0 see this post.

Also note that the shared version relies on you installing ffMPEG is you use one of these features:

- A/V Codec etc info in filename
- Update embedded info in video file

(but I'm sure you already knew that)

Hey just reran Manjaro and I need RMTV and I cannot find the link anywhere to the 2.10 or newer version., and the version below seems to be missing a couple of files.Ā  If you could post a links to bot 2.10 versions I'd really appreciate it. As always great program and hope things are good with you. Take care.

Did you try the latest beta? (link)
Not sure if you tried the shared version (where it uses already installed ffmpeg tools) or the static one (which includes the ffmpeg files)?

I just looked at both and the files seem complete?Ā

Ok found the links and downloaded both. Neither will work following your instructions. You had it before where one would open terminal in RMTV's folder run a command and all was good. If possible I'd prefer to have that back.

The files in the betas are all there from what I can tell. I downloaded the 2.0.1 before them and it seemed to be missing at least the readme.

Do I understand this right: the beta's work OK, but the old 2.0.10 missed files?
(this could be since with the beta I have added a desktop file, and for that [I think] I added a readme)

(I'm on vacation right now, so apologies if I don't reply in a reasonable time)

No the beta seems to have all the files they should, but do not work here. the 2.0.1 neither has all the files or works. That said anyway of getting this the old way? by that I mean before I downloaded, extracted, moved that to my downloads(specifically my /Downloads/Monitor - Sound -Video/), and installed from there then created a shortcut where i wanted it to run it.Ā  To be honest you made the instruction way to complicated.Ā

Apologies for the late reply - I'm traveling (call it "vacation" haha kind off anyway).

I'm missing the point here (my fault - apologies for that), but the distribution for Linux has not changed.
Only the desktop file and the readme have been added for those who wish to use it (another Linux user helped me with that and it worked under MX Linux).

The executable, and the ffMPEG related files (for the "static") version, are all the same?Ā

MX Linux really? Shoot that idiot. The point is that your latest version will not work here.

🤣

I should probably not shoot any one - I think that may be illegal hahah 😜Ā

I'm traveling right now, so I don't have access to my desktop to test this. I'll give it a try when I get back home (Monday morning next week).
See where things go wrong (any suggestions are most welcome).
