[Solved] macOS - Full screen mode, but keep the menubar visible

From day 1, I very much disliked full screen mode (click the green maximize dot).
And yes, I know your can keep the option key pressed while clicking the green maximize dot, but it just isn't what I'd want. 

Ideally I'd have the option to work the other way around (press Option to go full screen), or just remove or disable this functionality completely, but so far I have not yet found how to accomplish this.

I did however find a way to keep the menu bar visible!

In  -> System Preferences -> Dock & Menu Bar uncheck the option (at the bottom) "Automatically hide and show the menu bar in full screen".

Now the menu bar remains visible, even when maximizing a window.
