Glad to hear you've got that working - amazing how things can be simpel at times right?

As for the code: I'll admit that has taken me years of coding before I got to where I'm at today. And even now I still learn on a daily basis haha.
Yeah, clean and well formatted code can make a huge difference. Glad it has been a benefit for you as well.

Oh wow, the effect works perfect! Nice!
I'll admit that I expected a little out of sync, but man this works great!

Forgot to reply to your forum related comment.

The thing with attachments like your video is handled by an addon, I had not seen that option hahah.

So I'll just try and see what it does:

it doesn't do anything ... probably a conflict with the editor.

I've disabled that feature for now until I figure out what my next step will be (I'm getting pretty annoyed by the forum, so the motivation to find something else is increasing everyday hahah).

It only got "simple" with your help.

I think I will tweak the sound here and there a lil bit to make it fit a bit better. Without knowing, it shouldn´t be visible that the sound is a bit off in some situations.

But there is more to go. I mentioned a warp-jump effect earlier. Having the engines on a steady blue color and with a button push it will fade brighter, with a light blue/white flash at full brightness and fade down to its steady color. Some varibles for the brightness, fadeup time, flash time and fadedown time would be great, also adjustable color. I will try to achieve this by my own, but I don´t think I will get it working without your help.

And maybe I will also do a photon torpedo effect like this one (cause it is similar to the warp jump):

But i think this will be a new topic right?

Have a good start to the new week!

In Google Chrome, since the last few versions, seems to be acting up (I think it is JavaScript related).
Sometimes the editor doesn't work properly (looking at the code of the editor and testing it in other browsers, make me believe Google may have over optimized their JavaScript interpreter).

Grrr ....  - I'll have to put more effort in finding a replacement forum, but it will come with a lot of work

Warp Jump and Photon Torpedo's do not seem to be all that complicated, right?
(haha - the Torpedos have an interesting "sound" hahaha - JuSt KiDdiNG 😄)

On that note: did you see the new Star Trek show "Star Trek - Picard" yet? It is amazing!
I was afraid it would be a slow series, following Picard as he gets old and such. But nothing like that!
It look VERY promising, way better that "Star Trek Discovery (2017)"!

Well as long as I can send messages, this forum is fine for me. But yes, it can be frustrating.

"Do not seem to be all that complicated" - do you have yourself in mind by saying that? haha
To be honest, I don´t have a clue how to achieve the warp jump and torpedo effect...shame on me.
But I will do my best to read your codes and try to copy some bits and pieces.

Unfornately I don´t have Amazon prime. So Im not able to watch the series. But you are the third "Trekkie" who told me that the show is great.

So Im glad to hear that it is amazing!

Did you have ever watched the series "The Orville"? It was meant to be a fun series in Star Trek style and the first few episodes are too funny. But then it gets a bit more serious with still very funny elements or it is better to say it is funny with some serious elements and very interesting adventures. Also social conflicts and questions about life is present.

Here is a short video without beeing a spoiler. You can clearly see the Worf/Klingon related characters

Latchcomb

PS: Star Trek - Discovery is full of adolescent conflicts and immature interpersonal behaviour. Did like the action as a SciFi series, but not as Star Trek

I did not have anything in mind haha ... I'm currently working (again) on one of my bigger projects, but I wouldn't mind taking a look later this week

Yes, "The Orville" is super funny and I agree, they are getting a little more serious in the last season/episodes and there is a clear link to Star Trek!
I've watched all season and can't wait until the next season! I really liked it

Discovery indeed had some flaws. The first episode was promising but then after that it went a little sideways.
Still very OK to watch, but not "Star Trek" the way I like it.

On that note: too many shows these days are going overboard with certain "hot topics" ... and I'm not sure this is serving these "hot topics" any good.

I'm not sure about the limitations of Amazon Prime, but maybe you know someone that has Amazon Prime?

The great thing is, when we got all those effects done, we have a
great set about SciFi light effects. This could probably be an extra
article in this forum.

With The Orville, I really like the feeling of Star Trek with a good portion of humor.

Yes,
those "hot topics" feel kinda artificial. Like they made a scene just
to show everyone "we agree" or "we disagree" with social or political
trends. The "old" Star Trek made this much more clever and integrated in
their show. And it was never like "you have to behave like this", it
was always in way to make yourself think about it.

I will see what I can do about Amazon Prime, just to watch Picard

Yeah, having some SciFi effects as a library would be cool

So I just looked a little close to the 2 remaining effects:

Warp Jump:

This one basically has all LEDs in the "tails" set to blue.
We start the sound and at a key point we start increasing the brightness of the LEDs to an almost white (with blue hue).

Photon Torpedos:

This one is a little harder to study, but it seems that we can do random "shots" where the LED briefly "vibrates" a little brighter.
We could try doing this with a regular LED (red), which would be easier for you to implement in your Enterprise, or we could take just one "LED block" of an LED strip (which would be a little more complex to wire and program, but we'd have better control over brightness and color choice).
A single LED would be much easier though.

I'll try to make some time in the next few days to see what I can come up with.
It is just weird how days get filled real fast these days - I wonder how I made it through the day when I had a regular 8-5 job hahaha.

As for TV Shows ...

Amazon Prime: you could sign up for a free trial for 30 days

I agree that the other Star Trek shows were much more clever and subtle about these things, leaving it up to you to think about whatever the topic was.
Frankly, I'm surprised that people are not making a stink about it yet that modern shows go overboard with certain topics.
Oh well ....

I just ordered a sound module from Amazon (with some other gadgets for Arduino/RaspberryPi)

When the module arrives, I'll add it to my "plank"
