Dear Hans,

it is indeed quite frustating. As attachment your ino sketch, and the working 1.4 config file. I am thinking about to desolder my led strands and to put them in place like your configmaker wants them. Do you know how to adjust color settings  ? I am asking because the colors seem to be a bit over saturated.

OK, it took me a lot of searching and I overlooked this numerous times as well ...
Your service log (of the failing config) said:

line 33: no device with name Ambilight

And when looking in the failing config files, I noticed the problem ... well I hope it's the one we're looking for

The device is defined as "AmbiLight" but the device (in lights) is called as "Ambilight" ... doh! Capital "L" ...

So I modified the edited file I had, to match. Please try!

Do i have made wrong settings ? My startpoint is on the right top corner of my TV (backview). I attached some photos, the overlapping setup is used, should it be the other one ?

Awesome!

Thanks for the compliment, but I wouldn't call myself genius for overlooking the "L" numerous times haha.
But I'm glad we're making progress.

When I look at the colors; yeah something is definitely off with the position of the LEDs.
Looks like you did choose the right positions in Boblight Config Maker though.

When I look at the config file that I edited, then I noticed something strange.
It's missing the bottom line ...

[light]
name Left21
color red Ambilight 169
color green Ambilight 170
color blue Ambilight 171
hscan 0.0 10.0
vscan 94.1 98.7

# Bottom line is gone here?

[light]
name Right1
color red Ambilight 280
color green Ambilight 281
color blue Ambilight 282
hscan 90.0 100.0
vscan 94.1 98.7

See how we go directly from Left to Right?
Als the "color" counts go from 169, 170, 171 to ... 280, 281, 282.

When looking at the v2 config you sent, I see that the bottom line has been disabled (see the comment "# BOTTOM MIDDLE STRAND COUNTS 36 NON-EXISTING SPACER LEDS".) ...  Yet ... you do have a bottom line on your TV.
I think that's where we have to start to fix the issue. I'm not saying it will solve the entire problem though, but it's a start.

p.s. I've downloaded your video and pulled it trough HandBrake (reducing resolution, removing audio and recompressing it, which made the 40Mb video 2.7 Mb), just so I can add it here for other users, for when your video link is no longer available. I hope that's OK ...

Hi Hans, i have definitly a bottom line with 36 Led´s on it -without a gap-. Should i define 16 Leds Bottom left and 16 Leds Bottom right side ?

The bottom line in the picture is also marked in a green color -please look at the picture-, what does that mean ?

I just noticed that you have not checked the checkboxes for "Bottom left" and "Bottom right" under "LEDs (physical)".
Meaning: there are no leds there.

Not to be confused with the little eye icon in front of it, which only makes it visible or hide the LEDs in the "TV" picture.

Hi Hans, i created a new config file with boblightconfigmaker 2.0. could you take a look at it ? Furthermore i add a picture of the settings in the configmaker programm. The change between period and comma doesn´t seem to work, so i replaced all comma with period manually :-). Is it necessary to mix up configmaker version 1.4 with 2.0 or do you think we resolved the problem with changing period . and comma , and the "ambilight" vs. ambiLight issue.

Hi Hans, i got it almost, only the colors are shifted, please take a look at the picture. I combined boblightconfigmaker 2 with boblightconfgimaker 1.4. The sections "global" device and color were copied from 1.4 to 2.0.. At the beginning of your testfile the colors are ok, but when the colors were splited into 4 parts there is something wrong.

Hi Azrael!

Looks like the colors are mirrored. Or in other words: take of the LEDs and flip the whole thing horizontally so left and right swap.
Obviously not the easiest approach.

Seems this definitely is a goof-up in BCM2 ...
Select the start LED as the upper left one (so the other side of your current start LED) and set the rotation to the other direction (clockwise).

I've included a test config file (verify [device] and such) which should rotate in the right direction.
Once things look good, you might want to play with the margins/padding to make an almost perfect match ...

I forgot to mention that I included a screenshot of the suggested config changes

p.s. setting the separator to "period" worked just fine on my computer.
I'll dig into the code and see why it might not have worked on yours.
I'll also see if I can fix the mirror bug where the LEDs are lined up wrong.

I fixed some of these very nasty bugs ... but I only made it available for Windows and MacOS X.
Feel free to download it from this page and give it a try - let me know if it addresses the wrong direction and if the period now works as it should.

We have done it Your hint counter clockwise and the other startpoint was right. I created a new conf with your configmaker 2.0 removed all comma and comments and added global, device and color entry from 1.4 to the 2.0 config file. After that i faced the problem with the switched colors, this was solved by changing the hex code in the config file for the colors red and green. A BIG THANK YOU for your patience.

working ambilight

Do you know how to tune the color settings ?

Is it an error in your programm or why do i had to change the rotation and the startpoint ? Do you have experience with hyperion on libreelec ?

Hi Azrael!

Awesome, almost done, right?

Could you do me a favor and download and test the new Boblight Config Maker 2?
I just updated it and I'm wondering if it fixes your problems (mirrored leds and period not work).
(ie. create a config and compare [or post both here] to see if things work)

It was an error in my program, concerning the colors in the wrong direction and the period. I hope this version fixes that.

As for fine tuning the colors, well, I know Hyperion can have a lot of settings for this, but it looks to me like thats a pain.
If I recall correctly, the Boblight plugin in OpenElec (and LibreElec) does allow for some tuning like gamma and brightness, even per type of video (TV Show, Movie, Music, Other and allows a fixed color for menu's).

(I've added your video)

Did you get a chance to test the latest version of Boblight Config Maker v2?
(no hurry)
