When you start a Lazarus built GUI application from a shell (Terminal), you may see quite a few debug messages, which one would rather not see. Disabling the debugger isn't always preventing this, but a simple compiler directive will send the text to stderr instead of regular out. This way the user will not see it. I'm sure there are better ways to do this, but this was just a quick fix I could find.
