MacOS X - Find WiFi SSID from Terminal
June 9, 2016 9:34 PM
With a simple trick, you can retrieve the SSID of your current WiFi connect from the command line, ie. Terminal, as such.
The grep at the end will grab all lines with SSID in it, but it will also return the line with BSSID in it. So we pipe it to another grep selecting all lines that do not include BSSID:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resources/airport -I | grep SSID | grep -v BSSID
