Sometimes a VM goes haywire and it seems impossible to shut it down ... well, there is an option, it is just hidden very well ...
To force a virtual machine to power off:
- From the VMWare Fusion menu bar, select the Virtual Machine menu.
- Press and hold the Option (Alt) key.
- You'll see some options in the menu changing: Restart becomes Reset, and Shutdown becomes Power Off.
Even when your VM doesn't show the "Shutdown" option, it will show the Power Off option!
