Some retina MacBook Pro's have been delivered with a screen of LG or Samsung. Seems the LG screens are plagued with issues, so it might be nice to figure out if you have one of those with an LG screen or a Samsung screen. So how do we find that info?
The only way I have found so far is running this from Terminal (Applications -> Utlities -> Terminal):
ioreg -lw0 | grep "EDID" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6
In my case it showed:
Color LCD
LP154WT1-SJA2
DCN30360773FDRRAS
Color LCD
Look at the beginning of the second line (LP154WT1-SJA2).
If it starts with LP then you have an LG display.
Samsung displays start with LSN.

If you Google line 2, you might find other displays as well.
For example for non-Retina screens, LTN shows us that this is a Samsung screen.
