MacOS X - XBMC 12.x starts in very low resolution or only 16 colors

Seems that XBMC 12.x has some issues when starting full screen under OS X 10.9.x with MacBook Pro's (and other Mac's that can dynamically switch GPU). The screen is either only in 16 colors or in a super low resolution.
Temporary fix: press the "" key to switch to windowed mode, and press it again to go to full screen. The resolution should be fine now.
Note: This has to be repeated each time you start XBMC.
