Seems that a lot of folks have issue getting their free Windows 10 upgrade, since the Windows 10 checker complains about the VMWare display driver not being Windows 10 compatible ... so we wait forever.
To upgrade your Windows 7/8/8.1 to Windows 10: Simply download te Microsoft Windows 10 ISO for 32 or 64 bit, and mount the ISO in VMWare as a DVD drive. Autorun will start the upgrade, which takes a while but works just fine. Windows WILL upgrade and activate.
To get the display driver correct again: Install the VMWare Tools, choose the "Repair" option if you already had it installed, and you;re good to go ...
