[Solved] UI scaling not supported/working after upgrading from 2.3.4 to 2.3.9/2.3.10

I've been using RMTVS 2.3.4 and the text/UI correctly scaled with my Windows display settings (125%). However, after updating to 2.3.9 (and then later 2.3.10) it seems that the application doesn't follow the Windows display setting and appears to be at 100% scale all of the time. Does anyone know if this is an intentional change, a known (or unknown) issue, or perhaps even user error?

I've checked the settings etc. and wasn't able to see anything to adjust the scaling. Hopefully it's an easy fix though. I have screenshots from 2.3.4 and 2.3.10 showing the difference but it doesn't seem I can post them here ("No more attachments are allowed today"), but hopefully imgur links are allowed:

I'm on Windows 11 24H2 (26100.6584) with an AMD Radeon 7900 XTX GPU.

Thankfully I still have the 2.3.4 installer so I've been able to revert to this and continue using it with scaling that keeps my eyes happy. I would like to mention that I really do appreciate this software and the time/effort that's gone into it. I've donated in the past as a small token of gratitude; it's unreal how much time/effort this has saved me, and it just works flawlessly :)

First of all: thank you for providing very good information - most users fail to provide this. 👍
As for the attachments - Its a forum limitation for the first 3 (IIRC) posts to avoid spammer posting inappropriate pictures. Sorry about that. There is no override button per user.

In version 2.3.7 a change was made related to a bug in scaling under Windows.
Specifically this report (and another screenshot example here) where confirming a bug due to scaling issues the show information box would position weirdly/incorrectly. I managed to reproduce that at the time on Windows 11.

Your 2.3.4 screenshot actually show this bug as well (hard to see, but once you know where to look, you'll see it):

I do not know how to resolve while maintaining a proper scaling, but I'll do some new tests to see if the latest version of Lazarus Pascal addresses this. No guarantees though. But I'll try 😊

Note: Windows is notoriously a pain when it comes to scaling, and on top of that the implementation/workaround in Lazarus Pascal may add another layer of complexity which doesn't make it any easier to work with.

Note: I di the scaling setting in (Control Panel) System -> Display -> Scale.
Please let me know if this is not what you had in mind.
I hope the screenshots show what I'm seeing properly.

Did a test with Windows 11 24H2 on an Intel laptop and there scaling works correctly.

100%:

175%:

Also did a test on a Windows 11 24H2 AARCH64 virtual machine and there scaling works properly as well.

100%:

175%:

Thanks for checking this out. It does scale somehwat, but having my desktop at 175% scaling would be too extreme for me 😅 I've also tested it on my laptop with a RTX 3070 GPU to see if it was specific to my PC/AMD GPUs/hardware, but I observed the same behaviour. That's ok though, I think my eyesight is just not what it used to be.

I sort of have a workaround, which I'll add here for anyone who comes across this post with the same/similar issue:

  1. In C:\Program Files\Rename My TV Series (or whereever you installed it) right-click RenameMyTVSeries.exe and go to Properties (N.B. I'm using the classic right-click menu, not the W11 default one).
  2. Go to the Compatibility tab and click the Change high DPI settings button (near the bottom).
  3. Tick the Override high DPI scaling behaviour box near the bottom and set the drop-down to System.
  4. Click OK then OK again.

Launch the application and the UI should be scaled up. It's not perfect as the text is a little blurry, but I find this works better for me on my UW monitor and old man eyes.

Haha, welcome to the club - my eyesight isn't what it used to be either. 😉

I did notice the blurry look as well, just thought I was being picky haha.
Nice to see a work around, just wished it wasn't needed. I will keep an eye on it though.

Would you mind testing this version: link

I think I may have fixed the original problem, but it is a little hard to test with a standard (laptop) monitor. 😊

It's working! Scaling looks like it's back to what it used to be - screenshot attached. Thanks very much for taking the time to look into and fix it :)

Awesome! Thank you for confirming - took me most of yesterday to fix this haha.
I suppose I should get myself a HiDPI monitor 😉
What brand/model do you have?

p.s. I'll mark this topic as closed and will upload this version as a release version 😉

It's a LG 34GN850P-B, or in other words, a 34" ultrawide IPS monitor (3440x1440) from LG. I got it a couple years ago and I'm pretty happy with it, both for gaming and work. I doubt I'll ever go back to using standard 16:9 monitors if I can help it.

That is helpful indeed. I use a similar monitor from LG (LG 34UC98 - same size and resolution), but I only use this one with my Mac. I;ve had it since 2016 and always have been super content with it. (my Windows computer is either VM or my Asus gaming laptop)

Debating on getting the LG UltraGear 45GX950A (OLED, curved, 45", 5120 x 2160), but still on the fence (price and size). 😉

Thanks though for the tip - I maybe should move my gaming laptop closer to my monitor (sitting next to my TV right now).
