new Taho 26.0.1 update may have adverse affect on RenameMyTV Series 2, or it may be latent bug....can you confirm?

I updated to Tahoe 26.0.1 on my M1 Max Macbook tonight, and I am seeing a strange behavior now when dragging and dropping files into the file selection part of the UI. It may be the filename structure as well, because I get an error when dragging and dropping this file and others named similar to it:

xxxxxxxxxxxx (2025) - S01E09 - Name of Episode [ATVP WEBDL-1080p][EAC3 Atmos 5.1][h265]-HONE.mkv

However, when I drag and drop this file:

Show Name (2025) - S01E08 - The Real Mungers.mkv

(note: I have edited out names of shows to prevent and misunderstandings of content, but the names I have put in are formatted exactly like those I replaced.)

I cannot go back in my mac to Tahoe 26 to see if that is the reason this is happening, but I suspect it has something to do with the multiple bracketed sets of information. Any file I drop in the UI with this formatting shows an immediate error popping up for RenameMyTV Series 2 that has this info in it:

---------------------------------------------------------
Rename My TV Series

Missing Closing Character "]" in mask (offset 163)

Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press Abort to kill the program.

ABORT        OK
---------------------------------------------------------

(I'd show you screen shot but we've already addressed that.)

It looks like the parser is just getting confused.  I pass it off to you.

Thank you.

Hey there!

I tried doing a rename with the name you suggested and that works fine (the ever same answer from any developer 😉 ).

xxxxxxxxxxxx (2025) - S01E09 - Name of Episode [ATVP WEBDL-1080p][EAC3 Atmos 5.1][h265]-HONE.mkv

Since you do get an error, I was wondering if you could post the file format string?
Or if you could try this one as a test:

%N - %SZx%EZ - %T %R

I'd rather see the format you're using of course, since the one I just mentioned works for me 😉

Note that the square brackets are used in the file format to define repeat blocks, so I can see where that may become a conflict.

Note: I'm running Tahoe 26.0.1 as well, and this is not a Tahoe related issue. So reverting back to the previous Tahoe version would not resolve this issue.

@hans I tried the format you suggested, but it doesnt seem to be a format string error.  I jsut ran into the same error message when i tried to drag and drop this filename, before i changed to your format pattern, without any brackets or special characters in it.

Bobs Burgers S14E01 Fight at the Not Okay Chore-ral 1080p DSNP WEB-DL DDP5 1 H 264-NTb.mkv

same error

Then I tried to use the pattern you gave me, and I still get the eror.

I found that if I abort, it just dead stops the app and closes it. It doesnt just ignore the drag and drop request and go back to ready state.

If I click "OK" to ignore the error, it doesnt not import the filename into the file list, but then I find that no drag and drop operations work at all after that system wide. When I try to click on a file and drag it into the list it just ignores the operation and acts like I am selecting files. ie: If I try and drag and drop the first file in the finder it no longer grabs it and starts selecting the files my mouse cursor flies over.

as I stated, I only see this behavior on my m1 max with Tahoe 26.0.1 update on it. The same files work fine on my intel imac pro pre Tahoe.

Sorry.  I guess I just have a way with software and things seem to murphy's law me all the time.

As I'm also running Tahoe 26.0.1 on an M1 Max as well, and your filename renamed just fine on my setup with my file format string.

Can you post your format string?
Please add a screenshot of the "Replace Special Characters" list.
Both would help me trying to debug this issue, in the hopes I can reproduce this. 😊

These are the ones I have listed (default values):
