Back in the Delphi and Turbo Pascal days you could use ParamStr(0) to determine the path/directory of your application.
Cross platform this doesn't always work all that well.
A better approach:
var
AppPath: String;
...
AppPath := ExtractFilePath(Application.ExeName);
