I had a need for a small function that counts how often a certain word (or character sequence) existed in a give string.
This is what I cam up with, hope it's useful for someone :
... uses ..., strutils, ...; ... function CountOccurrences(ASubString: string; AString: string): integer;
var
offset: integer;
begin
result := 0;
offset := PosEx(ASubString, AString, 1);
while offset <> 0 do
begin
inc(result);
offset := PosEx(ASubString, AString, offset + length(ASubString));
end;
end;
