For both Delphi and Lazarus copying and pasting text to or from the clipboard is pretty easy:

uses clipboard;
...
Clipboard.AsText := 'Hello'; // Copy Text to clipboard
myString := ClipBoard.AsText; // Copy Text from clipboard in variable
