    Took me quite a while to figure this one out, especially since text alignment didn’t seem to work under GTK/2.
    For TStringGrid one can set a default text style for a cell, like so (I do this in the Form OnCreate event);

    var
      gridStyle:TTextStyle;
    ...
    begin ...
      gridStyle:=StringGrid1.DefaultTextStyle;
      gridStyle.Alignment:=taCenter;
      StringGrid1.DefaultTextStyle := gridStyle;

    This centers the text in each cell as it’s default setting. Obviously you can pick other alignments as well. Just wish this was a TStringGrid property.
