I've just "upgraded" my Mac to macOS Tahoe 26.4 (from 26.3, where ConnectMeNow 4.0.18 worked without issues). Since that "upgrade", ConnectMeNow fails to mount any of my Samba shares from my local Windows 10 PC. Sometimes I see a notification saying that a mount attempt failed; more often the attempt fails with no error or warning notification of any kind.

I can mount the same network shares using the built-in support in Finder or using the mount command in Terminal, so there isn't a network issue or a problem with the share configuration; it's just ConnectMeNow that doesn't work.

I've upgraded to ConnectMeNow 4.0.19 beta to see whether it fixes the problem, and it doesn't. Looking for additional suggestions about how I can debug and correct this problem.

Post:

I appreciate all the hard work. I’m not trying to be mean, but I don’t understand how this program got screwed up so badly. I loved this program. LOVED it. It was so easy and simple. Everything worked. Now….

The search is terrible. Terrible. I shut off the other search options so I don’t get slammed with duplicates but if I type in “fate zero” it’s like – NO RESULTS. We have no idea what you mean! Type in Fate/Zero there you go! Why is it like that? It wasn’t like that before. Why did that get changed?

It’s also not putting the shows in order when I add a directory. The old version would figure out what order the shows would go in even if they were named a little different. Then if I try to drag a file to its correct location it auto throws me to the top. Where did the little bar go that signifies where you were dragging the show to? Why can’t I drag a file past the top of the text box? I used to be able to do that. Now it’s like, drag the file as far as it can go. RESET. Drag the file a little more RESET. Drag the file some more RESET. Why is it like that?

Don’t even get me started on the UI. Why change something so much that wasn’t even broken?

I have renamed over 50,000 episodes with the old version. It worked great. I just don’t get why these changes were implemented.

Have you ever tried the option where it auto changes the metadata for .mkv files?

Jmkvpropedit can do 500 files in about 40 seconds. This program takes a minute a file. It certainly was a great idea. Just didn’t pan out.

There are so many more things that I am forgetting. Here’s the skinny, this program is now SIGNIFICANTLY worse than it used to be. I get that you are doing this for free. Thanks. It’s better than renaming files by hand, it’s just, why screw with something that wasn’t broken?

I am a power user of this program. I will continue to use it and hope for the best. Here’s what to change for the next update, ASAP:

– Search (make it work, turn off all the options by default, have it recognize when you enter foreign names for shows, use the code from the old version. )

– Get rid of update Metadata – it doesn’t work

– MAKE THE DIRECTORY ADD FUNCTION LIKE THE CLASSIC VERSION! – Why do they get added out of order? Every time I add a directory my next step is to scan all the files and fix the order. It’s wrong pretty much every time.

– Stop making the program automatically reset to the top of the list every time you move or remove an item. It is SO ANNOYING when you are dealing with large amounts of files. So annoying. MAKE THIS #1!!!!!!!!!!

– Fix the UI. Make it clear where you are dragging files to, Put the little bar in there. Remember, it resets back to the top every time so if you are renaming 250 files at once, you have to search through and figure out where it landed.

– Put the option to revert back to the good version clearly on the page. This version is so much worse.

Thanks. I appreciate you doing this. I just don’t see the point of doing something if you are not going to do it properly. My first suggestion would be to actually use the program. Use it to rename stuff and then see what works and doesn’t. Don’t just add a couple items and be like, “It worked for that so it must be fine!” A good programmer is a good tester.

I have dragged episodes for other shows to test and they don't have any issue. I recently install Garuda and I noticed with a few shows that I had to remove their listing and let RMTV readd them then all was good. I'm including the 4 videos and a copy of my settings so you can see if you get the same issue.

I'll add the link when the files finish uploading.

- define a public function that can be called when the screen locked state changes:

// your own procedure
procdure TForm1.ScreenLockChanged(locked:boolean);   { public! }
begin
  if locked the writeln('locked');
end;

- In the onCreate event of your form, activate the notification observer

procedure TForm1.FormCreate(Sender: TObject);
begin
   RegisterScreenLockNotifications(@ScreenLockChanged);
end;

(the observer will be unregistered automatically when your application closes, or you can call "UnregisterScreenLockNotifications")

Hope this is of use to someone out there 😉

Moving Tiago's bug report from the comments to the forum.

His post:

it’s Tiago again. I don’t know if you remember me, but you’ve helped me before on one bug or another in ConnectMeNow. For that, I am very thankful.

I’m passing by to report another one. I am trying to use ConnectMeNow to connect to a NAS via SSHFS, as I had attempted in the past, but that is still failing for me. Last time we discussed this matter, I never figured out why the connection was not working. It functions properly over Terminal, but not with CMN. I am currently using v4.0.18, on a MacMini (Mac16,11) with macOS 26.2 (25C56).

To try and address this issue, I have been trying to “Test Mount” (or directly connect from the Menu Bar) while having the Log Window open. Unfortunately, the log does not provide me enough information to understand what the issue is, even after I enable “Log Messages to Console”. Here is an excerpt of a mount attempt using SSHFS (“SERVER” and similar bold texts are placeholders for private info):

11:59:44 │ Mount requested for: "SERVER"
11:59:44 │ - Max Attempts  = 1
│   Attempts Left = -1
│   Last Attempt  = n/a
11:59:44 │ - Doing default short mount delay (1 second)
11:59:45 │ - Starting mount background task
11:59:45 │ - RETRY MOUNT TIMER: Started 1 minute timer for remount attempts
11:59:45 │ - Enabled timer for potential extra mount attempts
11:59:45 │ - Thread started

11:59:45 │ Thread - Calling for forced status update (only shows results if something changed)

11:59:45 │ Mount status update:
│ Mount/Open Networkshare feedback (Commandline):
│ Attempting to mount an SSHFS connection
│ - Server: SERVER-ADDRESS
│   User: SERVER-USERNAME
│   Authentication: Password
│ - SSHFS version 2.10
│
│ - WARNING: Using SSHPASS to login with password which is NOT SECURE!
│ "/Applications/ConnectMeNow4.app/Contents/MacOS/sshpass" -p "PASSWORD" /usr/local/bin/sshfs -f "SERVER-USERNAME@SERVER-ADDRESS:/" "MOUNT-PATH" -p 22 -d

11:59:45 │ Thread - Calling for forced status update (only shows results if something changed)

11:59:46 │ -- STATUS UPDATE - THREAD CALLBACK ------------------------------------------------
│
11:59:46 │ - RAW DUMP:
│
│
11:59:46 │ Update type
│  - Initial read     : -
│  - Timed Interval   : -
│  - Get Network info : -
│  - Forced Update    : YES
│
│ Status Interval     : 10000 milliseconds
│ Interval Interrupts : 500 milliseconds
│ Failed mount after  : 30000 milliseconds
│
│ Default gateway     : IP-ADDRESS (MAC-ADDRESS)
│
11:59:46 │ - Mount Status Updated: Counted 0 active share(s)
11:59:46 │ - Matched 0 Network shares.

The base command after the “WARNING” line seems to be the same I pass to the Terminal, with the exception of the `sshpass` call. I tried substituting symbols in the password by their URL encoding to see if that helped, but nothing. However, two things that I have noticed:

– changes to the `~/.ssh/config` file are not automatically loaded in ConnectMeNow. Even after restarting the application, I cannot force new SSH settings to be applied to SSHFS mount attempts. I am still trying to understand when new settings are loaded.

– If “Use Login” is disabled, but the Username and Password fields are not blank, ConnectMeNow still seems to use those settings when attempting mounts. My server and mac logins are different, so I know CNM is not just applying the mac username instead.

In reality, for both cases it might be that a new set of Share configurations is not being immediately applied. This means I cannot be sure of what is being attempted each time just by looking at the log. But it is nevertheless strange that I change a configuration and my subsequent mount attempt still reports an option not present in the preferences panels.

As always, thank you very much for the great software,
