Hi MrGrimm!

Are your files by any chance on a networkshare?

o.k. i'm stumped. just decided to test one more time and alls good now from the look of it. entered titans in the search, clicked on several titles in the list and not once did it freeze. have to ask if rmts uses / calls on fuse?

Haha, I'm stumped as well .

Nope, RMTV doesn't do anything with the underlying filesystem logic, so no fuse calls.
It just does a standard call to access files, and it's up to the system to handle this.

Having said that, I do use (OSX)Fuse under macOS occasionally, and have noticed that it works great 99% of the time, but just every now and then it goes a little bonkers on me.
Not sure if this is something that happens under Linux as well.
Just wondering; do you use Fuse to access NTFS, or something like that, on your external disk?

i really don't know what fuse is for. all i know is i got a message about it trying to run a appimage that i had on my desktop. i did go out and find out how to install and activate fuse , so i could run it over the top of itself. before i did that i finally got appimagelauncher to behave with the one appimage, but i had to click the installed appimage several times before it would launch and stay open without closing and getting a fuse error message.

As far as I know, FUSE is used to add a filesystem to the "user space". Meaning; add support for a filesystem without adding it somehow directly to the kernel.

The FUSE I know should not be needed to access files on your desktop (assuming you have a regular Linux install, running on a ext2, ext3 or ext4 filesystem).
Would be weird if someone would have called their tool FUSE as well ... The FUSE I know is very well known in the Linux and macOS community (amongst those that actually need it hahah).

As for RMTV; I'm not a frequent Linux users (if Apple keeps up the way they are going, this may change in the near future ).
The binary/executable is just a straightforward 64 bit executable and shouldn't really need anything special, except of course for GTK2 or something compatible (which you seem to have).

yea normal file system: all drives including os ext4 on efi / gpt. now there may be another reason, but not sure. i'm thinking the tvdb may have been having issues, cause i noticed duckietv was taking far longer to update it's database from trakt who gets all their info from the tvdb. i also noticed that when rmtv finally started working again i had a banner for the show that first popped up in the list when i searched for titans, but clicking the various shows in the list none of them had their normal banner. the box just reads banner not available.

I did see in the Kodi forum, on the topic of scrapers, that TheTVDB has been doing goofy stuff lately - breaking the scraper for Kodi as it seems.
So it could very well be related.

As soon as one of my other projects is done, I'll try to implement TVMaze and TheMovieDB as alternatives.
More and more issues seem to surface with TheTVDB, so I'm not sure if this is the beginning of the end of TheTVDB.
Good thing RMTV is using their 2.0 API ... I hope

hey neen meaning to get back to you for like 3 days and kept forgetting. looks like i was on to something in regards to the banners. read a couple of articles about the tvdb having issues of late with their api for the bammers / artwork. might want to checkout fan art like duckietv did. glad i'm not the only one that's noticed issues with the tvdb.

Oh no worries

Yeah, TheTVDB has been a MESS the past weeks.
One issue got resolved the other day, and yep there is a new one ...

Not sure what is going on at TheTVDB, I've spend most of today trying to figure out what was going on to find out it was yet again a TheTVDB issue.

at least now when your app freezes i know it's most likely a tvdb issue, and i can wait a few second for it to unfreeze. bit of a pain but i can live with it till things are sorted.

As soon as I find time, I'll implement TVMaze and maybe TMDB as well.
I'm getting a little sick and tired of TheTVDB being such an unreliable source

Too bad it takes a LOT of time to implement, but then again, maybe I'll figure something smart

Thanks for the heads-up! Good to know.

I suspect (from what I read) that neither TVMaze or TMDB are "drop-in" replacements for TheTVDB.
So I will have to revamp the entire mechanism anyway, and if I keep more than one source in mind, I can make it more like a "plugin"
