Hi Muratm,

Thanks for moving the conversation to the forum - it's much appreciated 😊
(for other readers: original comment)

Connecting two mac's with a Thunderbolt Bridge - nice, I have never done this.

Are you using the default settings?
Or did you change "Mount Style"? ("System Call" or "Commandline" - under the "Advanced Options" tab)
System Call would match what Finder would do (mount style anyway)
Is ConnectMeNow listed under "System Preferences" - "Security & Privacy" - "Automation"?

Does a mount from Terminal work?

Format:

mount_smbfs "//username:password@ipaddress/home" "/Users/YourUsername/MountPoints/SomeTestPath"

Hi Hans,

No, you're right - unfortunately I hadn't seen that you have a forum - otherwise I would have used it straight away. That makes more sense :-)

Unfortunately I'm in the home office today and can't check this, but I'll set the settings to factory defaults. The only thing I changed was to define the share type as SMB (I don't know if you should do that when connecting from Mac to Mac) and to set the IP. When I enter the IP via "Go to Connect" there are absolutely no problems. I try to bypass the connection with the sidebar from the Mac. It seems to run via the Mac Bonjour and this creates a very slow connection via Thunderbolt Bridge. Using the direct SMB connection via "Go to" in the Finder gives me full speed. That's why I selected SMB as the share type and thought that was what was meant.

I haven't tried the Terminal command yet. I would try that tomorrow. Thanks for the tip. I was able to establish the connection in the normal way, and it actually works via the sidebar (but I bypass this). But I haven't tried the terminal yet? Is this the same way as "go to server" or Bonjour?

I can only recommend the Thunderbolt Bridge connection between two Macs. It's really great fun to start a sync across two computers at this speed. It runs very fast 👍Of course, it only makes sense with two newer Macs...

I will try your tips tomorrow and let you know if it worked. The programme is really well written. Congratulations on that - wow👌

Thanks again for your help

Best regards from Hanover

Murat

Hi Hans,

you're right - this topic is more for the forum and not as a comment:-)

So - I have set up a Mac to Mac connection. The connection runs via Thunderbolt Bridge. Both computers run Monterey (latest version). The first computer is a Mac Book Pro and the other is a Mac studio. Both have been given a fixed IP by me so that they cannot communicate with each other via WLAN.

When I activate the hard drives of the respective computers via "Go to server", there are absolutely no problems. Unfortunately, I can't do this with the software. I enter the IP and test the ping - it recognises the connection. That doesn't seem to be the problem. The programme "twitches" very briefly and still does not establish a connection.

Maybe you have a solution to what I'm doing wrong?

Otherwise, I think the software is great - I had been looking for it for a long time because I was annoyed by having to mount the network folders over and over again.

I saw that you uploaded a new version after my comment - but I haven't tried it yet.

Thanks again for your help
Greetings from Hanover to Holland
Murat
