Some may like this, for me personally its super annoying at times and I really do not need this feature.

So the question: how do I disable this "feature"?

Go to the  Apple menu -> System Settings... -> Desktop & Dock.

Scroll down to the "Windows" settings and disable these two options:

Drag windows to left or right edge of screen to tile

Drag windows to menu bar to fill screen

As a developer and user, I sometimes need to reset the decision I once made concerning access rights in the "Privacy and Security" settings of my Mac. For example: I started and application for the first time and by accident click "No" or "Deny" when an application asked for specific rights (eg. access to the Network or Pictures etc). Sad part is that sometimes the application does not appear in the Privacy settings yet needs to be reset or turned on.

This is how you can reset this for a specific application.

1) in the Info.plist file of said application (right click the application in Finder and select "Show Package Content", open the Contents folder, and double click the Info.plist file) look for "CFBundleIdentifier" where it will show something like this:

<key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
<string>com.company.appname</string>

We need the "com.company.appname" text.

2) Next reset the security settings for a specific service ("Photos" being an example, see list below) for said application like so:

tccutil reset Photos com.company.appname

Rest ALL security settings for a given service (caution!)

Let's say you want to reset the privacy settings for an entire service then this can be done like so.

Keep in mind though that ALL rights for all applications will be revoke by doing this!!

tccutil reset Photos

I did find a list of existing services, but this list may grow over time as Apple comes with more options.

Am using a MacOS Ventura server. Mounting a Ventura 13.7.5 share consistently fails since this latest update and also the latest 13.7.6 betas, however the following connection commands work:

In Finder: smb://server_name._smb._tcp.local/server_share_name

In Terminal: mount_smbfs //server_name._smb._tcp.local/server_share_name ~//mount_point_name

Connections using SMB were fine in earlier Ventura versions. NFS has also worked well for all Ventura versions, so currently using it to connect.

ConnectMeNow fails to connect using the standard system call method, and I am able to ping the server. I would rather avoid re-installing Ventura as a fix, which going on many web comments does not appear to be reliable anyway.

Is there any way to replicate the above commands in ConnectMeNow?

As an example, I'm storing my custom executables in

~/.local/bin

So for an executable stored in this location to be found, we need to add that path to the environment variabel which can eb done in some of the usual ways seen in Linux and the likes.

One cool feature I found though (assuming your Mac is only being used by yourself of course) is by making a file holding that path in

/etc/paths.d

So for example create the file like so (you can call the filename anything you like):

sudo nano /etc/paths.d/my_local_executables

Enter the path

~/.local/bin

And press CTRL+X to save the file. You'll need to close Terminal completely, and after opening Terminal again, you'll see the path being part of the environment variable. You can look at the $PATH environment variable like so:

echo $PATH

Hello

I'm new to Connectmenow. I'm using Mac OS Sonoma on a Mac studio m2

I found out how to connect to my SMB server (Truenas) from my mac using "Serveur-Magenta.local" as server address and add a path, username and password.

but when I connect, It takes about 5/10 second to connect (I've tried to remove, ping, wake on lan..) but it's the same). And it shows in the finder left pane as a different server (with the same name but a different icon) than the one seen with Bonjour in the finder.

Using IP address give the same result

Is there a way to connect using Bonjour. So the actual "already available server" in the finder would connect ? Also could it be faster ?

Of course if I connect directly in the finder it's instantaneous.

I've tried "automounter" that does connect instantly using bonjour and does not add another server to the finder left pane. (But it cannot remember passwords so it's not really convenient)

Let me know :)
