Screens like white with all kinds of static on it, bright flashing screen, etc. 

The problem is for me not quite clear, but the solution is: You'll have to reset the NVRAM/PRAM of your Mac ... and thank goodness that s relatively easy ...

Resetting NVRAM / PRAM

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R.
        You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
  5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  6. Release the keys.
Now, some of us like to repeat this procedure after that, just one more time extra, just in case.
The easiest way to do that is to keep Command-Option-P-R pressed until you have heard the chime 3 or 4 times (your computer keeps rebooting).
