First of all: running Wireguard on your Mac, as a "server", would require your Mac to be accessible from the Internet - not something I'd want to do.
A common way of doing this would be by setting up port forwarding in your modem/router. Forward port 51820 UDP to your Mac's IP address (make sure your Mac gets a fixed IP address - either by reserving an IP address in your router/modem linked to the MAC address of your Mac, or by giving your Mac a static IP address).

Coming back to the config file:
Your server should be able to show or generate a config file.

Something like this:

Address =
PrivateKey =

PublicKey =
Endpoint =
AllowedIPs =

Wireguard, for me as well, can be rather daunting at times since both server and client are the same with Wireguard - called "peers" 😉

For the IP range you'd typically see something like "192.168.1.x/32" in CIDR notatie.
This Calculator helps you play with the values to see what they mean.
So 192.168.1.24/32 means that the client can only 192.168.1.24.
The "32" indicates the "range".

Did see these posts that may be helpful:
- Reddit Wireguard on Mac
- Wireguard for Dummies (I consider myself a dummy on this topic as well)

I use the same config file as the one I used for my PC.
You could try disabling all your other devices and see if it makes a tunnel then - in case only one connect at the same time is enforced.

Note:

I use my own Wireguard "server" that runs on my own firewall (OPNSense), but I suspect most will use a commercial Wireguard/VPN provider.
Not sure if such a provider would want a separate config file for each device - you may have to check with them in case you're using a commercial provider.

Glad to find this post... You'd think it would be easy to get Wireguard working on a Firestick... You're one of the few success stories..

I got as far as sideloading Wireguard, I'm able to ftp a config file, and have Wireguard load it.. but no Tunnel :(

Does the config file need any identifier specific to the Firestick? I succesfully created a tunnel with my PC, then transferred that config file.. Didn't work...

Any help appreciated

Quite a while ago I installed it on a 1st or 2nd gen Firestick (which seems to run an old Android version).
This last one I installed on a Firestick 4K Max (International version).

Just asking because the Android version may be rather old. I experienced similar challenges a few years back on my NVidia Shield. If I recall correctly, at that time I did it by copying a config file to the device and have it import by Wireguard.

Config file looks something like this, and should be saved as somename.conf on the Firestick (I know: it's a pain).

PrivateKey =
ListenPort =

PublicKey =
AllowedIPs =
Endpoint =

Hope this helps, feel free to ask if it doesn't help ... 😊

However, it looks like the Wireguard team released an APK suitable for most common Android devices, you can find the lastest APK version here.

The first one is the direct download, which can be uploaded to your Firestick.
As far as I know, this version should work.

I'd pick an official one, so I would stick to the official Wireguard website (since the Amazon app store and the Google Play Store are unusable on an Amazon Firestick).

That is the version that worked on my old Amazon Fire box, and my more recent Firestick 4K.
